We strongly promote young people’s understanding of their individual rights within the home and the community and support the acquisition of knowledge of how to access information regarding their rights. Upon admission to our supported accommodation, each young person receives a comprehensive Young Person’s Guide outlining their support, entitlements, and individual rights. Our staff empower young people to access information and exercise their rights, developing skills to navigate their entitlements independently.
Young people under Section 20 of the Children Care Act receive financial support, subsistence allowances, and advocacy services. We facilitate access to resources like the Children’s Commissioner’s Help at Hand service and provide guidance on effective advocacy services. As young people transition to adulthood, we support their access to personal advisers, advocating for their needs and providing guidance during the transition. We also ensure unaccompanied asylum-seeking children receive appropriate support and immigration advice. Our commitment is to foster a supportive environment where young people can thrive and exercise their rights with confidence.
